Susie Walker came into our lives on May 28, 2001 and departed when we brought her to Oak Ridge Animal Hospital to get her teeth cleaned on May 30, 2008. She was perfectly healthy at the time and died due to mistakes that the vet tech made while assisting Dr. Taylor. The North Carolina Veterinary Medical Board (NCVMB) issued a letter of reprimand to Dr. Taylor citing what happened as an act of incompetence. I would also spread fault to the owner of the business, Dr. Sacks who failed to have a safety valve called a pop-off occlusion valve in use with the anesthesia machine. This valve cost less than $50 and would have prevented Susie's death. If you want details of what happened you would have to write the NCVMB since NC is one of the few states without internet access to veterinary disciplinary action records. Susie will always be missed and I wish I had never brought her to Oak Ridge Animal Hospital on May 30, 2008.
