Reviews for Hometown Animal Hospital

I have taken my animals to this vet for the past 10 years. Just last week we found my cat was very hurt and we didn't know what had happened so we made an emergency visit. Dr. Colbassani was not in so we had to see her associate Dr. Wyatt. She told us that our cat had a pulled right leg. So she gave us pain medication and sent us home. We noticed he wasn't lifting his tail and that he wasn't going to the bathroom, so we took him back. Although Dr. Colbassani was there we were given Dr. Wyatt again for reasons unknown to us. She checked him again and told us that we were right and that he should be lifting his tail. So she asked us if we maybe wanted to get an X-Ray done although she didn't seem to happy to do so. We told her absolutely, that it was extremely important to us. When she came back with the X-Ray she informed us that his pelvis was broken and that it had moved his rectum and colon and that he was backing up as we speak. We asked her what could be done and she told us that there was nothing more that they could do for us and that we had to see an orthopedic specialist who would have to do a major surgery. We asked where and how much it would cost and she told us of a specialist named Dr. Hassinger in Plains and that it would cost anywhere from 800 to 1500 to fix. We were very upset as you can understand because that is a great deal of money, we then asked her how long we would have to decide and she told us just 2-3 days. We asked her what else could be done and she said that he was backing up and if we couldn't get the surgery the only option we had was to put him to sleep. So we went home and immediately called the specialist and within two days we took the cat down to Plains, a good 45 mintues away, and he told us that there was NOTHING wrong, his tail was just sore and he didn't want to lift his tail to use the bathroom!!! It cost us $160 to see him. As anyone would be, we were angry. What if we had put our cat to sleep?! Our animals are such a major part of our family. So we went back to Hometown and we told them what had happened and they told us that we were wrong and that we had miss understood everything that was said. They were unwilling to admit to their faults and they treated us like small children. They then refused to talk to us at all, walking into the back room and shutting the door. Then when we continued to try to talk to them through the door, they kicked us out slamming the door in our faces and shut all the windows!! I don't know about the rest of you but that is a very big mistake to make..and then to act like immature children and treating us like dirt. I would warn everyone to never take their pets here. Although Dr. Colbassani does seem to know what she is doing and to care for pets, the rest of her staff are clueless.
