While I was on vacation in Charleston my mother was looking after my ferret. She accidentally dropped him, possibly resulting in a broken bone. The animal was disoriented and dazed, and would not move for over twenty minutes. She was worried about broken bones or internal injuries, and took the elderly animal to the McCarty Veterinary Clinic because it was one of the few veterinarians in the area who is known to treat ferrets. I have used them in the past, but had not taken the animal there for about three years. Due to the fact that he had not been there in a long time they refused to treat him. This resulted in her being forced to drive the injured ferret to a veterinarian's office on Memorial Drive, despite the possibility of internal injuries.
This is behaviour that I consider to be reprehensible, and should not be tolerated by any pet owner. It is obvious that they do not care about my ferret, and I would not recommend the use of this office.
