Veterinarian

Dr. Cambria Melkus

Dr. Cambria Melkus, formerly Dr. McCabe, grew up in the best of both worlds: One during the week in University Park (Dallas), where she excelled personally and scholastically, graduating from Highland Park High School, Class of 2006; and the other spending all her weekends at her father’s ranch in Fannin County, Texas, at the early age of four years old. This is where she was inspired and found her calling of nurturing animals by being immersed in the rural setting filled with various husbandry experiences with a variety of animals including raising Black Angus cattle, tending to the farm dogs, cats, horses, goats, chickens, llamas, and a menagerie of other creatures and encountering the unique experiences that come with living part-time in a rural setting which she attributes a large amount of that time in her life shaping and discovering her passion for her future professional life of veterinary medicine.

She soon learned that the passion that defines her as a veterinarian is her love for people! She has a special gift that allows her to develop long lasting relationships so that ‘continuity of care’ can exist with not only her clients and patients, but also working hard to develop a strong, professional network by creating rapport with other veterinary professional, therefore confidently able to provide the highest level of care possible by having a trusting support network that is readily available if she is unavailable or should a referral ever be warranted.
She and her nurse, Michelle, are excited to be partnering with BetterVet to launch this nation-wide company in Dallas and are striving to be the veterinary team of choice for those individuals that place the highest priority on their pets’ well-being and for those who are seeking a veterinary team that will provide that extra level of personalized care, attention to detail, and overall thoroughness. Dr. Melkus lives in Dallas with her husband, Justin, their three children, and their Great Pyrenees, Big Buddy.
