Dr. Jesse Navatta

Veterinarian Chicago
Dr. Jesse James Navatta (they/them) graduated from Cornell University’s College of Veterinary Medicine in 2017. Dr. Navatta has worked in the veterinary profession since high school, starting as a kennel assistant at their local small animal clinic. They went on to become licensed as a veterinary technician, working in this role while completing their undergraduate degree and eventually enrolling in veterinary school. While in school, their focus shifted from wildlife and conservation medicine to community medicine and accessible veterinary care. After graduating, Dr. Navatta moved to Chicago to work in the non-profit sector, building out an accessible care clinic and bringing veterinary care into the homes of Southside Chicagoans. For the last 6 years, Dr. Navatta has worked with a number of nonprofit organizations, shelters, and small animal clinics throughout Chicago, bringing compassionate care to every pet while actively including their human caretakers. Outside of clinical medicine, Dr. Navatta is devoted to teaching veterinary and veterinary technician students as well as other veterinary professionals. Dr. Navatta is also devoted to diversifying the veterinary profession through actively working with many organizations including PrideVMC, Pawsabilities, MentorVet, and the Illinois State Veterinary Medical Association. When not working, you can find Dr. Navatta in their garden with their husband, two cats, and box turtle!
